published:2011-04-28

During the long history of life, insects are a creature much more senior than human beings. As early as in 340 million years ago, insects appeared on earth. Living together on the same planet, the ancestors of human beings built a close relationship with insects.

Through historical times, human beings have learned to make wide use of insects in production and life. For the public lecture on the afternoon of April 27, Dr Yang Hongzhen, a BMNH associate researcher, offered her insight on the emergence of ‘insect culture’.
